You’re smart if you...
share a product that
you won’t be able to eat by the expiry date.

How it works?
The “supportive fridge” is one initiative that facilitates food sharing. It was born in 2015 in Spain and involves placing “fridge points” in strategic spots throughout a city where people can leave perfectly edible food for others that they won’t be able to consume within the expiry date.
Both private and commercial companies can leave food and anyone who needs it is free to take it.

The Frigorificos solidarios

In Goiàs (Brazil) “solidarity fridges” have been installed on the roads, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The initiative has been possible thanks to the commitment of voluntary associations. Anyone that wants to deposit surplus food must comply with the rules: no raw meat and fish, and the food must have labels showing the packaging and expiry dates.

Your city is smart if...
encourages community sharing card programs.
Your purchases at local shops can support people in need.
How it works?
They are proximity crowdfunding systems with the goal of redistributing and sharing goods with those who need it.
In particular, they are networks of shops that apply preferential treatment to customers who donate to the fund that supports the cards.
For business owners it is a strategy to develop customer loyalty. The beneficiaries can use the card to make purchases in the affiliated shops.
Net2Share, Turin

The project was born in Turin (Mirafiori neighborhood) from the idea of a local non-profit association. Customers / donors can register online to the platform and receive their card. Using the card they can make donations and gain access to exclusive discounts with a value greater than the sum donated.
The beneficiaries have a card that is recharged with the donations from the program. Currently Net2Share is being tested and is supported by a smartphone application.
